Step 1: Sign up

Go to /en/register and sign up with email. You instantly get a free API key — 100 calls/day, forever, no credit card required.

Step 2: Get your API key

Log in and open the Dashboard. The API key appears at the top of the page, shaped like sk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Click to copy.

The API key is a sensitive credential. Don't commit it to git or share it publicly. Use environment variables.

Step 3: First curl call

Start with the no-auth public endpoint to confirm network + DNS are healthy:

curl https://api.fusionintel.net/v1/public/feargreed/latest

Then try an authenticated endpoint:

export FUSIONINTEL_API_KEY="sk_your_key"
curl -H "X-API-Key: $FUSIONINTEL_API_KEY" \
  "https://api.fusionintel.net/v1/stock/000001.SZ"

A normal response is JSON with metadata and data fields.

Step 4: Python call

import os, requests

API_KEY = os.environ["FUSIONINTEL_API_KEY"]
r = requests.get(
    "https://api.fusionintel.net/v1/feargreed/a_stock_macro/shi_feargreedindex",
    headers={"X-API-Key": API_KEY},
    params={"period": "30d"},
    timeout=10,
)
r.raise_for_status()
print(r.json())

Step 5: Read the response

Standard response shape:

{
  "metadata": {
    "category": "a_stock_macro",
    "code": "shi_feargreedindex",
    "period": "30d",
    "latest_date": "2026-05-15",
    "columns": ["date", "price", "feargreed_index"]
  },
  "data": [
    ["2026-05-15", 3368.21, 42.5],
    ...
  ]
}

Key fields:

  • metadata.columns: meaning of each column in data rows.
  • metadata.latest_date: most recent trading day in the response.
  • data: 2D array, one row per trading day.

Common pitfalls

  • 401 / 403: 401 means an invalid key; 403 means the category or history exceeds your plan. A missing X-API-Key header returns 422.
  • 429: daily call limit exceeded. Free tier resets at 00:00 UTC+8.
  • Empty data array: check period matches your plan's allowed range (Free prices use 30d only; macro fear & greed supports latest / 7d / 30d).
  • Stale data on non-trading days: Check the actual data date; daily publication timing varies by source.
